Suffolk Liquor Store Clerk Charged With Selling Alcohol To Minor

A clerk at a Long Island liquor store was arrested during an undercover sting operation by New York State Police targeting those selling to minors.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, New York State Police investigators in Riverside conducted an “Underage Drinker Enforcement Operation” in the town of Southold, targeting stores that may be selling alcohol to minors under the age of 21

.During the operation, one man - Riverhead resident Robert Hansult, 63 - was arrested and charged with unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage after selling to a minor at Richard Harvest Wines and Liquors on Main Road in Mattituck. During the investigation, 11 other stores were found to be in compliance: 

  • Orhan Mini-Mart on Main Road in Laurel;
  • Main Rd. Liquors on Main Road in Mattituck;
  • La Tienda on Main Road in Mattituck;
  • Handy Pantry on Main Road in Mattituck;
  • BP on Route 25 in Mattituck;
  • 7-Eleven on Main Road in Cutchogue;
  • Valero Food Mart on Main Road in Cutchogue;
  • Peconic Liquors on Main Road in Cutchogue;
  • Citgo Quik Mart on Main Road in Cutchogue;
  • Gulf Mini-Mart on Route 25 in Southold;
  • Village Liquor Store on Main Street in Southold.
